In response to Ron Pauls statement about Immigrants on CSPAN on March 12, 2007

Although I like Ron Paul for many of his positions, in watching him on CSPAN on March 12, 2007 I recoiled when he made a statement about immigrants arriving here just to go on Welfare due to having a child born in the USA. Immigration today is a far more complex and challenging problem that we have than this.

Whats more, implying that any race of people are like this, I find is consistent with the attitude during WWII when our forces were segregated. For example, Afro Americans were considered lazy and worthless, yet they were the Tuscany fliers who protected our day light bombers, and those who worked hard on building the Alaskan Highway. Given the opportunity anyone would rise to the occasion of dignity. Racism comes in all forms and immigration should not be regarded in such a trite manner. Perhaps he should explain his position more on this!

There are over an estimated 12 million immigrants in the U.S.A. While staying under the radar, most of them work and pay taxes. 65% of US citizens prefer some form of patriation of illegal immigrants. It costs an estimated $6,000 dollars to obtain a citizenship. Given these paramiters, many stratgies can come to mind. For example of one is to enable immigrants to have long term structured loans from the government for this excessive amount for buying one's US citizenship. Additionally, why not have a government driven basic english class which is not some form of immersion. Given that the government corrects the economy, there should be no problem of employment availability for any American.

In Retrospect,
