Ans:Marriage is not something that I have ever seen as an institution, being that, statistically, most heterosexual marriages do not last; It is a personal commitment. Lets try to put this into perspective when considering the statement made by Presidential Candidate Lewis Cass in 1848 when associating the Institution of Marriage with the right to own slaves: "If the relation of Master and servant may be regulated or annihilated, or may the relation of Husband and Wife, or parent and child, and any other conditions which our institutions and the habits of our society recognize" As much as the notion of 'Institution' is defined by the era in which we live, Marriage itself has not been compromised by abolishing slavery, or other acts of social evolution. It is irrelevant to me as to why two of the same sex wish to marry, as first I believe that each of us have to understand what marriage really is for each of us. This is before we can simply apply any ascribed standard that determines who can or cannot marry whom. I believe that in the Bible, Christ said in so many words, 'let the first without Sin cast the first stone'. This is a question I think we should ask ourselves I believe every morning in the bathroom mirror when washing our face. Sexuality is also not specifically a choice such as what shirt one chooses to wear on a given day. Any geneticist will tell you that there are few perfect XX XY 's really walking around; and any psychologist would speak their opinion as well on cause and effect. The Environment and our Genes are very much a pair to deal with when it comes down to basic discrimination, which does demonstrate what are moral values really add up to. What is Morally right in my opinion is to recognize that although we are all different, that each as adults still needs and is entitled to adult companionship; and that is a personal value that we live with in our sense of self, and should never be dictated by other's values on us. Q: If Same Sex Marriage is Legalized , What about Children ? Ans: Children need mentors in their developing years, and this is by both genders. Let's consider a Single Mother with a Son, or a Daughter. Both genders of Child need to know what a Male is, as much if a Single Father should have his children know what a Female is. I would hope that this responsibility is accounted for when claiming to love our children no matter what our own sexual disposition is, or opinions about the opposite sex.
