Q: Do you believe in Unilateral Action ?
Ans: Unilateral Action could imply leadership to some based
upon some stated principle for the action; but a Principle that does not provide common ground in the United Nations normally lacks a foundation to stand on.
What is more than the case, is the Unilateral Action demonstrates a Failure in Foreign Policy and
World Leadership; when this is the case, Unilateral action in World affairs further compounds
its own failures in non expected costs, and collateral damage in our position
as a World Leader.
To Inspire is leadership in the World, where to threaten is to isolate one's strategic place in the World.
To be the World Leader, we must lead the World. This has to be, not by coercion, nor threat, but in the continued demonstration of transparent diplomacy that brings others in World Leadership to the table of common grounds.
The Mandate of the UN is not to avoid or reason away World issues, but to address them. Leadership on a World issue consequently must expect the Due Diligence of the UN, and not give up on expecting it; as this is the strength afforded by the UN.
Those that are inspired by sincerity will follow a leader based on their own Due Diligence. If common grounds cannot be established, then it can be identified as to why they are not.
For all parties at the table, differences must be resolved, as personal agendas are to be put aside; The cost and the benefit to be examined and horizons set as to the conclusion and the tomorrow of joint action.
